Journey to Joy

For the past two years or so, I have been working on my latest book, recounting my story of how I overcame my own religious upbringing and prejudices to discover myself and my calling as a Psychic Medium.

It has been a challenging, and yet, exhilarating journey so far!

Along the way, I have discovered, much to my surprise, that not everyone woke up in the same fashion as I did! And that's completely okay!

Finally, it's here!


As you can tell by the picture I chose for my front cover, the journey has not always been all love and light. Sometimes there have been some thunderstorms. Sometimes there have been some dark moments.

What I discovered along the way was that as much as I attempted to hide my gift, turn it off, ignore it, or walk away from it, I could not stop my soul from shining through eventually.

My message is that we each have something inside of us that we are meant to do, to be, or to accomplish. It is different for each of us. It is not always the most popular thing, the most glamorous thing, or the thing that makes us rich or famous. Sometimes it makes us the brunt of jokes, or verbal attacks. Sometimes the "powers" that be will try to silence our souls. Sometimes they will charge enormous fees for licenses to have the ability to do what we are meant to do.

I believe that you can spray paint a parrot black, but eventually his colors will begin to shine through.

Originally, I was not really so enthused about sharing my story in book form. I shared bits and pieces in my classes and to my individual clients, but writing a book seemed to me to be a little daunting. Why? There are a lot of aspects to my story that may not appeal to the larger audience. I live in a rather conservative community! I was afraid of offending people from my past!

What changed my mind?

The first thing that happened was that Jesus came to me, requesting me to write the book! Believe it or not, at first I said no! Yes, you can say no to Jesus! I did! However, he did not take my "no" sitting down. He was relentless!

I also realized that there are probably multitudes of people out there who have something inside of them that they are meant to do, but the challenges seem too great! They don't know how, or they don't know where to start, or they don't think that they have the ability.

I want you to know that you, too, can do that thing that only you can do!

It may or it may not make you a million dollars! It may end up getting you fired, or excommunicated, or maybe your partner will leave you or maybe you will be discredited. I am here to say, do it anyway!
 My wish is that my story will inspire you to do that thing that seems too big, too controversial, or too close to home.

New Moon, New Possibilities!

In a previous blog post, I shared how we sometimes interchange the terms "new moon" and "dark moon," however, originally, these were two different days. Originally, the dark moon was the night with no moon. Makes sense, right? And the new moon was a day or so later when that first little sliver of the "new" moon was visible. I have decided I like this way of labeling these particular phases, because they just make sense to me.

That being said, this weekend is the "dark moon" on Saturday, in Leo. This is a good week to really think about what aspects of your life experience you are ready to release. Write all those aspects down on a piece of paper, light a candle, put on some "mood" music and really get serious about letting some "stuff" go! Burn your paper in the candle, taking whatever necessary safety precautions are necessary, of course.

If you are really serious about letting go of some "stuff," do this ritual three times on three different days, the last day being Saturday, three being the magic number of manifestation! I like to dance around the candle or fire three times, counter clockwise! The third time, which should be on Saturday, the actual dark moon, you should dance around your fire nine times: nine being three times three!



You should really be good and cleansed by Sunday or Monday (depending on which calendar you look at), when that first sliver of a moon appears. Now you are ready to manifest!

Using the same ritual, now you are going to write down what things you want to bring into your life! Really connect with your heart and decide what is in your highest good according to your soul. Just wanting a new car or a new couch is not what I am talking about here.

Where does your soul want to go from here?

Are there other people involved in what you are trying to manifest?

Let's say, for example, you are getting a divorce, and you have small children. You, your ex, and your children, are all going to be affected by this decision, whether it was your decision or not. You might say something like this: 

I now ask and request of my (Higher Power, or My Soul) that this divorce be manifest in the best possible way and that everyone who is affected may benefit in some way. May all circumstances come together to bring the highest good for everyone concerned.

You will write this, or your own affirmation on a piece of paper three times, burn it in a candle or fire three times on three different days, dance around the fire, this time clockwise, three times, and the last day nine times.

Then, let it go.

Yes, that is right! You don't have to mull over it, think about it, visualize it, feel it, or any of that! Completely give it up to your Soul or your Higher Power or the Angels. Expect that it is taken care of. Expect results.

And don't go around bad mouthing your ex or complaining about any details or challenges you may face in the interim. 

Do you get my drift?

As you can see, rituals can be simple or extravagant. 

Intention is everything.

Of course, my hope is that you will tailor this ritual to fit your own personal agenda, plans, or intentions. Don't ever try to cross free will, and always ask for the highest good for everyone concerned.

Full Super Moon In Capricorn

I am not an astrologist, but I follow some really great blogs and I do sit with the moon on a regular basis. When I found out this full moon was in Capricorn, I knew that it was significant for me, since I am a Capricorn. Here are a couple of great posts I found that have great information!

What I do know about this moon is that it is in a place in its orbit that is close to the earth, which makes it seem bigger than normal. It's proximity to the earth, however, really helps to magnify its ability to power our intentions and charge our spiritual items that we want to get cleansed.

Here is what I do. I find a place in the yard where the moon is going to shine directly on the items I want charged. I place the items in salt water and place them outside, asking for the power of the moon to cleanse and charge my spiritual items.

Tonight, weather permitting, would be a great night to light a fire and do a full moon celebration!

Since Capricorn is an earth sign, use the power of the earth in your ritual as well. I like the idea of writing down intentions and planting them in a potted plant. As the plant grows, so do your intentions. Don't do this one after the full moon. Doing it between the new and full moon is best, as the  moon is "growing" during this phase. It is okay to do this one if the actual time of the full moon has not yet occurred.

You can think of your own rituals involving the use of "earth". You could dance around a fire pit, really sending your intentions out the bottoms of your feet as you dance! Make sure you dance clockwise in a circle three or nine times (nine being three times three).

Whatever you decide to do, know that the moon is there to power your intentions. Let us be thankful for the Universal Consciousness in every thing that is and know that we are one with the moon, the sun, the stars, and all other things that have consciousness. And know that everything has a form of consciousness.

Independence Day!


Today is the day we in the US celebrate the day we declared our independence from England. At the time, our independence had not yet been acknowledged by England, but our forefathers wrote what has been known as the Declaration of Independence, and signed it, and put it out there for all to see. Then we celebrated!

I would like to suggest that today, there are many things in our lives which have outlived their usefulness, things that now we could very well live without.

What things do you have in your life which you would like to live without? Debt? Loneliness? Grief? Anger? Resentment? Sickness? A relationship challenge?

Just for today, declare your independence from these things! Thank them for their place in your past, for just in showing up in your life you were made aware of something that needed adjustment!

Go grab a piece of paper, and using our forefather's example, write down all those things from which  you are ready to declare your independence!

Sign the paper! This makes it official! You are ready to be independent!

Now, celebrate!

"Wait a minute, Joy," you might say!" I have not yet seen the results of my statement of independence. Shouldn't I wait until I see it happen?"

NO! A thousand times NO!

If you are to birth something new into your life, you first have to let go of the old! Be gone, poverty! Thank you for letting me know that I need money to survive in this world. Be gone, sickness! Thank you for making me appreciate health! 

Celebrate your independence! See your independence before the first shot is fired from the battle that is sure to ensue! Do you think your old patterns are going to go away just because you asked them nicely? 

Now, you can frame that statement of independence up somewhere where you are sure to see it every day, or you can come up with your own ritual to seal it into your life.

Make sure you make your independence statement powerful and positive!

Our forefather's wrote:

We hold these truths to be self-evident, that all men are created equal, that they are endowed by their Creator with certain unalienable Rights, that among these are Life, Liberty and the pursuit of Happiness.--That to secure these rights, Governments are instituted among Men, deriving their just powers from the consent of the governed, --That whenever any Form of Government becomes destructive of these ends, it is the Right of the People to alter or to abolish it....

Now, let me point out something to you. When this was written, not all men were considered to be equal. Some of the men who penned this actually owned slaves! Imagine that! They wrote something that they themselves did not even practice or believe! However, a seed was sown that eventually led to the abolishment of slavery. Today, we are still battling over whether some people have the same rights as others. I believe that because our forefathers wrote down and declared this to be a part of our government, eventually we will get it right! But not without a fight!

When you declare your independence, get ready for a battle! But you will overcome! Your independence will not come easily! But you are up for it!

If you are in a relationship and a person is treating you disrespectfully, put in your statement that all of your relationships are based on mutual respect, and you release any and all relationships that are not this way! If you are in a dead end job and you want to earn a living in a way that gives you joy, declare that you are able to earn a living doing  what you love in a peaceful and life affirming environment! If you are battling a sickness or even an extra ten pounds, affirm that your body is a temple, and that temple serves your soul in the most healthy way possible!

Dream Symbols

We all have experienced that crazy dream that woke us up in the middle of the night. We have all wondered,  "I wonder what that means?"

What is it about the dream state that brings up so many questions, fears, or anxiety?

Did you ever experience a dream that seemed to last all night, or, you woke from a vivid dream, and then resumed the dream once you fell back to sleep?

Some earth based tribes believe that our waking lives are the illusion, and our dream state is our real life.

I, however, follow a different train of thought, at least at this point in my journey.

Dreams are our souls working out what we seem to be experiencing in the "waking" state, via symbols.

Sometimes our dreams can foretell the future, but, more often, our dreams are trying to send us a message about what we are experiencing in our lives, and, maybe, send us some clues on how to resolve any outstanding issues.

Here are some common dream symbols:

1. cars or other forms of transportation... Cars represent our path through life. When we dream about our cars, or other forms of transportation, we are dreaming about how we are navigating our current path.

For example: Years ago, I found myself in an unhappy marriage, with no clue of how to make my life work, our finances work, or our marriage work. I had no idea how to get out of the situation I found myself in. I would frequently dream that I was in a car with no steering and no brakes. Symbolically, my dreams were acting out my inner feelings of not being in control of my destiny and not knowing any way to regain control.

If you have a dream about a car, take note of what is happening between you and the car.  Is the car running well, or is it out of control? Is it moving at the speed that you would like? Do you know where you are and how to get where you are going? When you contemplate your relationship to the car in your dream, you may gain some insight into your subconscious thoughts relating to your journey through life.

(hint: sometimes our real car sends us messages relating to our path as well! How is your relationship to your car? Does it mirror your relationship to  your path through life?)

2. Water:  water represents our emotions or our connection with Spirit (my word for our Higher Power, Source, God, the Divine..etc)

Are you in water over your head? You may be drowning in an emotional situation that is acting itself out in your dreams.

If you dream about water, take note of how much water there is, and what kind of water. Is the water clean or dirty?

One exception: I have found through experience that when I dream of a baby in water, there is usually a death in the family or someone that I know. Symbolically babies represent new beginnings, and water represents Spirit, so the message is that someone is about to embark upon a new beginning in the Spirit world.



3. Babies.. yes I just gave this one away. Babies represent new beginnings.

If you dream you are pregnant, don't worry. It probably isn't a literal dream. Symbolically you are creating something new in your life! Being pregnant or having a baby in a dream is a good thing!

Recently I dreamed I had a baby and I was going through the snow up and down hills in a big truck with  my husband trying to get to this very large castle on top of a hill. At some point I had to get out of the truck and slide down an icy hill to get away from the truck that had gotten stuck.

I interpret this to mean that the new things that I am beginning and the path that I am on will not come without obstacles to overcome. No journey worth taking is ever easy! However, I was glad that my husband was on the journey with me. I did not have to go it alone.
